Formula sestoji iz 11 kitajskih zeliščnih učinkovin: astragali radix, ginseng radix et rhizoma, aconiti lateralis radix preparata, Salvia miltiorrhiza radix et rhizoma, semen descurainiae lepidii, alismatis rhizoma, polygonati odorati rhizoma, cinnamomi ramulus, carthami flos, periploca cortex, and citri reticulatae pericarpium.

Chinese Herb Mix Helps Boost Failing Hearts, high quality study confirms
A study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology found that Chinese herbal medicine formula is effective in treating chronic heart failure (CHF). The study gives high quality evidence that compared to placebo, Qili Qiangxin capsule is significantly more effective in reducing plasma NT-proBNP level among CHF patients.
B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) and N-terminal pro b-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) are substances that are produced in the heart and released when the heart is stretched and working hard to pump blood. Tests for BNP and NT-proBNP measure their levels in the blood in order to detect and evaluate heart failure.
It was a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, parallel-group, placebo-controlled study. Subject received 4 Qili Qiangxin capsules 3 times a day for 12 weeks. The formula consists of 11 Chinese herbal medicines: astragali radix, ginseng radix et rhizoma, aconiti lateralis radix preparata, Salvia miltiorrhiza radix et rhizoma, semen descurainiae lepidii, alismatis rhizoma, polygonati odorati rhizoma, cinnamomi ramulus, carthami flos, periploca cortex, and citri reticulatae pericarpium.
Significantly more patients taking qili qiangxin capsules met the criterion of at least a 30% reduction in N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) at 12 weeks, compared with those on placebo (48% versus 32%, P<0.001).
The traditional Chinese medicine group also had a lower rate of composite cardiac events compared with placebo (4.5% versus 11%, P=0.008), they reported in the study published online in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
